At. St. John Bosco, we have a longstanding tradition of baptizing children at Mass. Fr. Jeff and Fr. Ivan are happy to baptize your child during one of our regularly scheduled Sunday Masses. This is an awesome way for you to know of this community's support as you raise your child in the Catholic faith. Fr. Jeff and Fr. Ivan are multilingual, so if families desire, they are happy to perform the rite bilingually in English and Spanish. Under special circumstances, Deacon Matt and Deacon Mickey may also be available to baptize after Sunday Mass or on Saturday afternoons, however their availability is limited and weddings, funerals and quinceañeras take precedence.
Step One: Call & schedule a date
Contact the Church Office at (219) 844-9027 to schedule a baptism date. You'll also be asked to register for one of our Baptism Preparation Classes. Classes are be held every other month.
Step Two: Choose Godparents
Godparents help will help raise your little one in the faith. Here are some points to remember when selecting your godparents. Remember, at least one of them must be a practicing Catholic.
