One of the goals of our RE program is to teach, model, and experience what it means to “live” our faith in the world and to “see and feel” where it is that God touches our lives. This goal can only be accomplished through the combined efforts of parents, clergy, catechists, teachers, staff , and our Church communities; along with the continued and constant support of God’s grace.

How & when to register:

Register at the St. John Bosco Parish Office from 8 am to 3 pm Monday-Friday. You can also mail or email your registration form, to St. John Bosco at 1247- 171st. Place, Hammond, 46324 (Attn: Vickie). Registration forms will also be available at St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph Parish Office or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and can be mailed, or emailed as noted above. If you're a returning family, fill out the forms mailed to your home and return those. Any questions? Our classes and structure

All children, grades K -8 who do not attend a Catholic school should be enrolled in a faith formation program. Preparation and reception of Sacraments are usually received in the following years, depending on prior formation, either at a Catholic School or in a formal Religious Education program: Reconciliation/First Confession - Second grade;

Eucharist/First Communion - Third grade;

Confirmation (two year process) - Seventh and Eighth grade

If students are “on track," the preparation follows this normal course , though adaptations are regularly made for those students and families re-committing to their faith and need to "catch-up" on gaps in formation. Our “KICK OFF” for the year will be Sunday, August 23, 2026…9:00-10:15 a.m. SJB School Building, enter through Door B (to the right of Door A, by the fence).

Program fees

$100 for one student

$150 for two students

$200 for three or more students Need-based scholarships available.

(There are other minimal fees throughout the year for retreats and family nights)
